Interstate Mechanical Service, LLC was officially launched as its own entity on July 1, 2016 after being a longstanding division of Interstate Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
Interstate Mechanical Contractors, Inc. (IMC) was founded in 1982 by the late Daniel R. Burnette and his wife Judy. IMC opened its doors with only five employees and produced sales of less than one million dollars in its first year of operation. Interstate was initially housed in an office trailer located on Dutch Valley Road in North Knoxville and has grown steadily throughout its history and today supports the families of its 140+ employees with average annual sales of more than $30 million dollars in recent years.
Both Interstate Mechanical companies reside in its Leed™ Certified office complex located on a six-acre tract on Henson Road centrally located in the city of Knoxville. Since Mr. Burnette’s passing in February 2001 and completion of the succession plan with the sale of the business in January 2003, IMC is now owned and fully operated by IMC’s President, Terry Self and his wife Robin and their family.
Interstate Mechanical Service, LLC (IMS) started out as a service department of IMC, but after explosive growth and a demand for more strategic business development, IMS was born. Since its launch, IMS has become a leader in technology and practices designed specifically for the service industry. From our team of service experts, through the advanced service management and customer web portals, we can provide an extraordinary level of service to any facility more efficiently and cost effectively.
